Supermodel Gigi Hadid was recently apprehended on the Cayman Islands for possessing marijuana during her vacation, as reported by Rolling Stones. The incident occurred when Gigi and her friend arrived on the island via a private plane, and their luggage was searched due to suspicions of illegal substance possession.
Authorities discovered marijuana, along with items used for its consumption, known as “ganja,” during the search, according to local outlet Cayman Marl Road. As a result, Gigi Hadid and her friend were arrested on charges related to the importation of marijuana and related utensils. After a brief stay at the Prisoner Detention Center, they were released on bail.
Subsequently, on July 12, Gigi Hadid and her friend appeared in court, where they pleaded guilty to the charges. They were fined $1,000 but faced no further legal consequences.
In response to the incident, Gigi Hadid’s representative clarified that the marijuana was legally purchased in New York City with a medical license. Furthermore, they pointed out that marijuana has been legal for medical use on Grand Cayman since 2017. Gigi’s record remains untarnished, and she continued to enjoy her time on the island after the ordeal.
Apart from her modeling career, Gigi Hadid has made headlines for her rumored relationship with actor Leonardo DiCaprio. The couple was seen at separate parties in the Hamptons, sparking dating rumors since September 2022.
